Fertility Assessment & Referral
If you have been actively trying to get pregnant for over a year or simply have questions about your fertility health, a comprehensive assessment will help identify if you have any infertility issues and determine the best course of treatment if you do.
You should consider having a fertility assessment if you have the following conditions:
- Diagnosed reproductive issues of the fallopian tubes, ovaries, or uterus
- Menstruation that is heavy, irregular, or absent
- Recurrent miscarriages
- History of pelvic inflammatory disease, pelvic pain or endometriosis
- Partner with suspected or identified male infertility
A fertility assessment will include the following:
- Medical history discussion, especially to check for ovulation or menstrual cycle issues
- Blood tests to check hormone levels and ovarian reserve (the number of potential eggs remaining in a woman’s ovaries).
- Pelvic examination
- Minimally invasive procedures, such as ultrasound imaging (sonogram) and surgery, to check for structural causes of infertility
If you require further assessment, your doctor will provide you with a referral to a specialist.
